SBAC/PARCC: Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium/Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers

Two major assessment consortia are developing new assessments for the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts and Mathematics.  Michigan is a governing member of the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC).  The other consortium is the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC).  Information is provided here on both consortia as some PARCC resources may prove to be helpful in preparing for the SBAC assessments.

Michigan schools anticipate participating in the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium assessments beginning in spring 2015.  These Common Core State Standards-aligned assessments for English language arts and Mathematics are a major shift in assessment strategies and tools from existing MEAP and MME assessments.
